Why do I feel that now is the time? I have felt a deep sense of foreboding for a little more than a year regarding the political scene and the presidential elections. I can remember the first election that I was aware of, 1968 with Hubert Humphrey and Richard Nixon. My family is dyed in the wool Democrat, so of course we wanted HHH. I remember seeing him in NYC outside the CBS studios once and it made quite an impression.
For most of my voting life I have been registered as an Independent and have voted that way. I voted for Gerald Ford in my first election, but after that I have bounced around a bit. I despised Jimmy Carter from the start, based on a campaign TV report. I wasn't too sure about Reagan, but I did come around and loved him. Never quite liked George HW Bush (too comfy with the Saudi's and did not like Jim Baker), had a brief love affair with Clinton (I didn't have sexual relations with that woman) and discovered George W. Bush. Actually I really wanted McCain in 2000, badly. Gore was a sore loser of the worst kind and I lost any respect I had for him. Suck it up and take it like a man!
The turning point for me was 911. That was it. I felt that W could protect us, that going into Afghanistan and Iraq was the right thing to do, and was comfortable that we weren't as vulnerable to attack as on 9/10. I officially registered Republican and have never looked back.
Since moving to Arizona six years ago, I feel at home. I don't have to feel apologetic or get defensive about my political views. It has made me sick how the press has demonized W for the past 8 years and the brainwashing has been astounding.
Now on to my concerns. The press/MSM has gotten into bed with the Democratic Party and is diseased. There is constant manipulation of the information that poses as news. Huge outcries about things when W was president that are totally ignored now. I don't understand this, but it is ruining our country. Our citizens deserve to know what is going on! That is where blogs and Twitter comes in. We now have an amazing network of people all over the world reporting, editorializing, opining, educating, and sharing information that is not being reported by the MSM. I want to be part of this movement and that is what has brought me to finally creating this blog.
I hope you, my readers will use this forum to share your thoughts, dreams, goals, and attitudes with me. I am considering running for public office as my next step and understanding what my fellow Arizonans and Republicans want and stand for is crucial for this journey. I don't want to be a "hack", phony, back-slapping, good ol' boy, same old thing that we are fed up to here with. I want to help Arizona become successful and more diversified in bringing new kinds of business ventures to our beautiful state. I want to make sure that our kids are getting the kind of education that can prepare them for the jobs we can bring here, and I want to preserve our natural resources while exploiting our biggest renewable one--our sun.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for listening and I look forward to hearing back from you!
